Summary

Experienced in farming and the electrical trade with over 8 years of industrial sector experience and some exposure to residential projects. Held leadership positions from lead hand to superintendent in pipeline/Civil projects. Currently, a 4th year apprentice Electrician studying for the Red Seal Exam. At the beginning of 2024, I had a unique opportunity in Texas where I went from operating equipment to being promoted to site Superintendent. Recently took on the role of Estimator all in just 6 months of starting with the company.

Civil Estimator

  • Self-taught on building out material takeoffs for earthwork projects using Insight Elevation Software within a month and consistently improved on every project.
  • My role as an estimator consisted of studying project plans and geotech reports, taking notes, and building out a 3D topographical maps of the proposed project with associated material lists.
  • Attended project meetings to provide updates and insights on project costs.
  • Utilized cost-estimating software to streamline estimating processes and produce accurate and reliable estimates.

Civil Superintendent

  • Started out with HTX in the trenches running an elevation stick and operating equipment [Skid Steer, Excavator, Roller, Dozer, Front end loader].
  • 2 weeks into the Job I was promoted to Foreman after catching a Quality Control procedure skipped by one of the senior operators on the project, that would have been a costly mistake.
  • 6 weeks with the company and I was promoted again to Superintendent.
  • Monitored work performance and productivity of subcontractors to comply with specifications, procedures, quality and safety requirements.
  • Directed field personnel to complete project on schedule, within budget and with quality workmanship conforming to plans and specifications.
  • Established effective working relationships with clients, addressing concerns promptly to maintain trust and rapport.

4TH Year Electrical Aprentice

  • On a project with a crew of 52 electricians, pipefitters, and iron workers, I was voted in as CLAC Job Steward within my first week of being on the project. This Additional role required me to manage Employee relationships with PCL, and Hold the Company Responsible for the agreement they had with CLAC.
  • My Scope of work during my time on this project, mainly consisted of 7-12 man 3/C 350kcmil & 3/C 500kcmil cable pulls with a tugger.

3rd Year Electrical Apprentice

  • Contracted to provide 15kv power to underground potash beltline systems
  • High voltage terminations: stress cones/splices with 350Kcmil and 250Kcmil cable. both cold and heat shrink methods of installation
  • Competent in stoper drill operation and installation of messenger (airline cable) as a means of electrical raceway
  • Mounted and bonded high voltage junction boxes
  • Qualified and experienced in running a mining scoop
  • Construction of beltline's themselves (building stringers and hanging/leveling them)

Evraz Steel Plant

  • First year with dynamo I was mainly working at Evraz doing maintenance work. When molten metal would melt raceways, they would call us to demo and rebuild electrical circuits
  • In preparation for a new sub station they were building we installed a superior tray raceway up and over the meltshop roof which is over 130ft in the air
  • Built a 14-million dollar sub station for Evraz Steel plant, Installed ground grid, erected steel structures, installed insulator's, ran conduit, terminations (low voltage and high voltage), installed Aluminum Bus and conductor, Rigging and placement of electrical gear, design and prepare cable pull systems for tugger

Sask Power

  • I was on a road crew that specialized in high voltage transformers. We mainly did jobs for Sask Power either demoing and replacing transformers or re-gasketing and re-furbishing transformers to increase their life expectancy. I gained some great experience processing oil in transformers as well. The biggest transformer we worked on was a mainline 248,000 volt transformer at Sask Powers Hydro Damn near Nipawin

Mosaic K1 & K2

  • Above Ground work at the K2 Mine installing Tray
  • Installed a Current transformer at K1 Sub Station

Tech Shutdowns

  • Every so often a few electricians would be asked to assist the Electrical Technicians in doing shutdown maintenance/repairs as well as help them test equipment. I took part in tech shutdowns at Evraz, K2, and Richardson in Yorkton to name a few

CNRL Horizon

  • Was hired on as a labourer
  • Within 14 days was promoted to lead spacer
  • I was interchangeable between labouring/spacing and a welders helper
  • Working with 24" 3/4" steel pipe for a water line going around CNRL's tailings pond
  • commuted 1.5 hrs each way, working 10-12 hr days on a 24/4 shift

Tidewater - Grande Prairie Alberta - 2019

  • First apprentice on site and was tasked with receiving mass orders of ladder tray/cable and separating/organizing material around site based on work packages issued to me from management.
  • Mapped and installed the ground grids for 5 MCC buildings according to prints issued to me
  • Once manned up was tasked with installing ladder tray drops and interconnects between mods with a crew of 3, 40ft in the air. Continued on to bond those trays and pull cable

Nexen - Fort McMurray Alberta - 2018-2019

  • One of the first on site and one of the last to leave
  • Constructed and energized 10 new well pads
  • Was assigned to work with an instrument technician and assist in the installation of 4 new sample stations fed by 3/4 inch tube bundle (cutting, bending and stripping)
  • Worked with welder fabricating and installing strut supports for engineered tray
  • Installed heat trace (MI,SR)
  • JB/Light/power kit terminations
  • Field run tray and ladder tray installation
  • Bonding field run tray and ladder tray
  • Fire brick installation
  • Pulled cable with a crew of 12
