Liam Tkachuk

I live in Deer Valley and attend grade 8 at Lumsden Elementary School. I am in the French Immersion program, and am fluent in reading, writing and speaking in both official languages.

I enjoy keeping busy year round, and especially love the outdoors. My dad keeps me busy by allowing me to help him with various jobs around the house and yard. He has taught me to use power equipment, such as lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers and snowblowers, as well as various hand tools. I recently helped my dad take care of a house for a local couple that go away during winter. I would water plants, snow blow the driveway. and make sure the furnace and outdoor vents worked so the house stayed warm. My dad taught me to pay attention to detail when cutting grass and snow blowing to ensure a clean and professional appearance.

I love playing all sports, specifically golf, hockey, baseball and football. I have been an Alternate Captain numerous times for my hockey team, I like working as a team, but also enjoy working alone. I enjoyed my season of being a hockey referee, but felt it wasn't for me. I found it an extremely valuable experience, enforcing the rules, ensuring fair play and dealing with difficult coaches and parents.

I want to work at the Deer Valley Golf Course, due to my love of golfing and my desire to keep the course in excellent shape. I also look forward to meeting golfers and getting tips from them. To my understanding, there are maintenance and guest services opportunities and am open to either position and preferably a combination of both.
