Summary

I have been working as an assistant professor at the Department of English Language at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business since 2015. I have fulfilled the position of the Deputy Head of the English Language Department at the Faculty of Applied Languages in 2021. In my teaching activities, I teach Business English, Business Negotiations in the English Language and Practical Rhetoric. In my courses I emphasise the intercultural dimensions of communication, ensuring that students are well-prepared for real world interactions.

In scientific research, I focus on the use of figurative language in different professional discourses, mainly economical and political. Another research issue in my professional activities involves the development and management of soft skills in business negotiations.

In my current role as an assistant professor at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, I specialise in Business English, Business Negotiations in the English Language.

My courses delve into the theoretical aspects of business, business negotiations, including stages of negotiations, building relationships, strategies and tactics, principles of persuasion, and closing the deal. Additionally, I emphasise the intercultural dimension of negotiations, ensuring that students are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of international business interactions.

I also teach Practical Rhetoric, a course designed to prepare students for real-life situations in which they will need to present or speak publicly on various topics. This course focuses on developing students’ presentation skills, structuring arguments effectively, using persuasive language, and managing stage presence and voice modulation. Through simulated speaking scenarios and peer feedback, students gain confidence and competence in public speaking, which is essential for their future professional roles.
